Routines

I often see myself falling into routines. Daily ones for school, weekly ones for events like piano lessons, what chores have to be done, and what parent i'm with for the night. Weekend ones as well, as i switch who i'm staying with for the weekend every week.
I like routines, but eventually get bored, and even a bit depressed if I stay in one for too long. On the flip side, when routine is broken, i get stressed out, especially if its short notice, or no notice at all.

do you find yourself in routines, and what are your feelings about them?

  1. I know exactly what you mean about feeling almost a bit depressed if you feel stuck in a routine. It's like our lives become too predictable, too boring, too stale. I feel like this time of year is rough for that - we're well into first tri, getting sick of our classes and the daily routine. MEA was a nice break in my opinion, but it seems like when the week started again it was just like an old hat - back into the same routine we go. I think it's important for our sanity to switch it up a little, even in the smallest ways. Ideas I try: start a new TV show, do your homework at a different time of day, walk a different route to your classes, try to talk to new people, buy or wear a new pair of shoes, explore a new hobby, sleep on a couch or on the floor (I do this a lot actually... is that weird?). Little things like this can really feel like an important and/or needed change!

  2. R U kidding?

Routines are the structure to my life. I don't have one at home but it would help me do my work much faster! I love having a regularly scheduled school day to count on. Long weekends frighten me, but mainly because I lose contact with all my friends. But sometimes it is fun to do random stuff just to make your day interesting.
